Precautions for the use of resin cut-off wheels
Match the workpiece materialdifferent materials require abrasives and formulas of corresponding types. For instance, cut-off wheels mainly made of white fused alumina or silicon carbide shall be selected for stainless steel cutting to ensure sharpness and burn resistance. When cutting non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum, chip clogging shall be avoided, and formulas with better chip removal performance are recommended.
Control linear speedresin cut-off wheels are marked with the maximum operating speed. The rotational speed of equipment must not exceed this limit during application. Excessively high speed may cause wheel rupture, while excessively low speed will reduce cutting efficiency.
Inspect equipment conditioncheck the spindle runout and clamping device condition of the equipment before use. Excessive spindle runout of aging equipment will affect the stable operation of cut-off wheels.
Correct wheel installationduring installation, ensure the flanges on both sides have the same diameter, which shall not be less than one-third of the cut-off wheel diameter. Deformed or severely worn flanges are prohibited. Apply moderate clamping force; excessive force may crack the wheel, while insufficient force will result in slippage and vibration.
Perform idling testafter installing a new cut-off wheel, conduct an idling test for no less than 1 minute with the protective cover closed. Start cutting operations only after confirming no abnormal vibration or noise.
Adopt proper cutting methodfor ultra-thin cut-off wheels, adopt radial cutting as far as possible to avoid lateral force. Maintain a uniform feeding speed and avoid sudden pushing or pulling.
Pay attention to cooling and lubricationfor wet cutting, supply sufficient coolant directly to the cutting zone for heat dissipation and chip removal. For dry cutting, adopt intermittent cutting to allow heat dissipation for the cut-off wheel.
Replace wheels in a timely mannerstop use immediately and replace with a new wheel if obvious cracks, notches or continuously intensified and irreparable vibration occur during cutting.
